Joshua Snyder was raised in Centerville, Ohio and is a 2007 graduate of Centerville High School. With a unique and evident passion for music, he was a member of many of the school's musical ensembles including the nationally recognized marching band (The Centerville Jazz Band), the winter percussion ensembles, glee club and show choir (Elktonians), and was a frequent participant in the school's talent shows and musicals. He even performed an original song called "Goodbye CHS" at the Senior Recognition Assembly in front of the entire student body, faculty, and senior parents. Following his graduation from CHS, he attended Wright State University in Dayton, OH on a music scholarship for piano and percussion and was a triple major in Music Education, Music Performance, and English.
In 2019, he went back to school at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH where he completed his Associates of Liberal Arts Degree and the Ohio Transfer Module in May 2022 as a prerequisite for attending the prestigious Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science (CCMS). Prior to starting JS Mortuary Transport, he worked as a removal driver for Adam Dwyer Funeral Trade which is where he discovered his passion for the funeral industry. It was during his employment there when he made the choice to attend Sinclair to complete the course load required for entry into CCMS. In May 2020, after working slightly over a year for Dwyer Funeral Trade, he made the decision to go into business for himself which resulted in the birthing of JSMT. When asked about what he loves so much about working in the funeral industry, he replied with "having the ability to bring families just a little bit of sunshine in the middle of a dark time keeps me going. Losing both of my parents, 2 grandmothers, a sister, a brother, and other relatives and friends gives me a first-hand view of what they're going through and thus, I'm able to relate to their pain."
Besides running and driving for JSMT, Josh is the lead musician at In His Presence World Ministries in Dayton, a member of the Rollin' Rejects bowling team, a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach with the YMCA, Everybody Fitness, and Planet Fitness, a musical recording artist under the stage name Jayess Music, and the proud father of 4 beautiful children: Faith, 15; Joshua Jr., 8; Aliyah, 5; and Azariah, 2.
